Mr. Bill MacArthur

At the conclusion of the 2000-01 year, Coach Bill MacArthur will step down as the Head Coach of the Shenendehowa Plainsmen, a position he has held for the past 20 seasons.

Bill started his teaching career in 1969 at the Shenendehowa School District after graduating from the Jacksonville State University.  He will continue to teach at Shenendehowa, a position he has held for the past 32 years.

In 1981 he helped start the Shenendehowa High School Hockey program, after having coached for several years at the youth hockey level in the Schenectady and Clifton Park Youth Hockey Associations.

In his 20 years behind "Shen's" bench, Bill has led his Plainsmen to: 2 Suburban Council Championships, 5 CDHSHL Delvecchio Cup Championships, 8 Section II Runner-ups, 2 Section II Championships, and 1 Eastern Regional Championship, and has had several former players go on to Collegiate and Professional Hockey.  He has also had the pleasure of coaching both of his sons, Trevor and Peter, at the high school level for the Plainsmen.

Bill will hang up his skates at the conclusion of this season with an incredible Combined Record of 316 Wins, 175 Losses, and 16 Ties.  This overall record currently ranks him 4th among the top High School Hockey Coaches in New York State.

Bill plans to continue teaching and coaching his "second sport", tennis, as Head Coach of Varsity Tennis Team.
