Mr. Donald "Doc" Miller

Don Miller, affectionately know as "Doc", grew up in the small, central New York town of Clinton, during the 1950's.  Clinton has a huge hockey past, and was the home of the "Clinton Comets" of the Eastern Hockey League for many years, from the 1920's through the 1970's.  As a kid, Don played Clinton Youth Hockey and was known a a "rink rat", who worked at the Clinton Arena in exchange for free ice time.  In high school, he played Varsity Hockey for Clinton Central High School, a team that to this day, dominates New York State High School Hockey.  After graduating from Clinton Central in 1962, he attended Delhi College, before transferring to the State University of New York at Oswego, graduating with a B.S. in 1966.  While at Oswego, Don played Varsity Hockey as a Junior and Senior.

In 1967, he started his teaching career in the South Colonie School District, before accepting a position in the Glens Falls School System in 1970.  Don retired from teaching in 2000, after over 30 years as an educator.

In 1985, Glens Falls High School formed it's first Varsity Hockey Team and Don was asked to head the program, a position he held for 16 seasons.  He has led his Glens Falls Indians to: a League Championship, 4 Sectional Championships, 5 Regional Championships, and 2 State Championships.  And has had several former players go on to Collegiate, Olympic, and Professional Hockey.

Don has hung up his skates for the last time, as the first Head Coach of the Glens Falls Indians, at the conclusion of the 2000-01 hockey season.  He has an incredible Combined Record of 252 Wins, 139 Losses, and 7 Ties.  This overall record ranks him among the top High School Hockey Coaches in New York State.

From all of the Players, Coaches, Parents and Fans of the Capital District High School Hockey League, "Congratulations Doc", and the "Best of Luck in your Retirement"
